How to feed the mind
If you read most of the Daily News in RSS feed readers or aggregators, then skip this article and go do something else.
The reason I'm writing about RSS feeds, it is because of how great I personally think that this way of keeping your car on top of what it is. If you think that reading newspapers is the best way to get news, think again, keep in mind that newspapers provide readers with the news that a day or at most a couple of hours late, so it's news old at the time to read it.
In the U.S., some publications of magazines have declined dramatically, not to copy, removing sections of news, simply because their readers to know the news before publication hits the newsstands. Now most of the publications provide implementation and its opinions on these news articles instead of running headlines, simply because it is a waste of ink, paper and time.
I have been using feed aggregators for years now, and people tend to have a shock to see how they are updated for the latest news, I would not surprise anyone when I start talking about the latest tech news, a day or two later I called to tell me ", you're right, I just read this in the newspaper."
You see the human race is advancing in many ways, ways that we never even dreamed of taking blogs and how they have evolved, or listening to podcasts, and how much fun and information have become. But it will be of a later article, now let's focus on RSS.
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndicate, well that is a definition, has a lot of meanings, but simply that there is no information at the time of signing, but what makes it unique RSS? And how is it different from Ezines or newsletters sent via email?
Ezines and newsletters are delivered to your email account, and to be honest we tend to ignore them, sometimes because they are too long to read, we would spend hours going through a lot of information, so we tend to stack them in our inbox until we are tired of non-presence inbox and decide to read over the weekend, now this is old fashion, nobody does it anymore, or at least should not do it again, we see the technology is very advanced, and now is easier to get informed, and much more fun.
Enter RSS or news feeds, the main difference is that instead of reading the news off your e-mail, or by typing a URL and go to a news website, you get the news to your feed aggregator software catcher once you subscribe to a feed site will send the latest news to your aggregator software, you can select the length of a news feed, so that you can read a summary of news, rather than reading all, time is money , and this is especially true these days.
Let's say you signed up for a news site, is the fire-your aggregator, it will grab all the latest unread feeds on this news site, after going through them, remove them and update the aggregator to update the feed with new news.
No loss of time, and you got what you wanted, thanks to XML technology, what could be better then that, well aggregators are of different types and shapes, there are free ones all over the net and, of course, is the paid subscriptions, but to end up, aggregators fall into four main types.
Online aggregators:
Thanks to the progress of what is known as Web 2.0, you get online software like Gmail, Flickr, Digg, the new Yahoo home page, or even an online aggregator, most of these aggregators are free to sign up, they work Efficient, my favorites are Bloglines and Newsgator.
Notifiers Aggregator:
These are small simple software that is downloaded to your computer, which alerts you with a popup with any news affecting your subscription, you can download after joining an online aggregator and synchronizes with the server of the aggregator, for checking new feeds.
Integrated browser aggregators:
You can find these free browsers like Apple Safari 2.0, which comes with Mac OS X Tiger, you can also find on Firefox, on all major OS platforms, and also you can find on the next Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE you can download 7 Beta 3 for now).
Aggregator Software:
These software are designated as its only task is to grab news feeds for you, there are plenty of those, but the best thing would NetNewsWire for the Mac and FeedDemon for Windows, but to use any of these are must pay an annual subscription.
What you should do next:
Now you should go to one of the aggregators available, and enroll in one of them, after doing this step you should select the news feeds you want to subscribe and choose, that is. Simple, simple, and sufficient.
I recommend you try a free subscription online to see how useful this technology is the first to pay an annual subscription and download an RSS reader.
Stay informed 24/7 and fun! ......
