When we make a commercial transaction of sale, whether cash or credit card / debit card, we can already speak of a point of sale. However, the POS or POS Terminal is an activity that includes, redundant, a terminal bank card authorization, a cash register, a collector or ATM, a computer with a program to collect and so on. Talk about a selling point, is to speak of a set of computer accessories and software that work with operations that can print a ticket and / or invoice, check the same as a sale, it is also the issue of reports related with it, and keep track of inventory and certain business operations. Point of Sale is used in a wide variety of businesses, as this activity takes place in a tobacco stand where they sell magazines, newspapers, candy, even the large supermarket chains, considering all the intermediate companies and provision of as with service clubs, cyber cafes, eateries, and many other small and medium business enterprises in which commercial transactions take place. Currently used cash registers transactions accounted for a sale.

However, tools have been integrated computer peripheral to simulate the cash register, cash drawer as the ticket printer, the display to show the customer the amount to be marked; addition to bar code readers that make the operation more quickly and efficiently. Similarly, there are portable terminals with integrated reader barcode, which have made the stocktaking is carried out more frequently and almost automatically. This has been a saving in time optimizing functions at the point of sale. Thus, we can conclude very generally, that a POS or POS integrates: Program POS, cash drawer, display, POS, Printer reports, Barcode Reader, Portable Terminal capture, Scales, Bar Code Reader (optional scale). The more equipped to be the most efficient and effective POS will be their performance in managing the business.
